MANDALAS
Mandalas are an artistic representation of what happens when you dive into the subconscious. A geometric image made from circles that ripple from the centre. The Mandala is used in spiritual, emotional and psychological work to help focus ones attention.
“Make time to do what makes your soul happy”.
Since 2014 I have been interested in practicing meditation and yoga, in recent years I have found a natural progression towards making meditative art. I learnt that by soothing my own mind by working this way, I could possibly make a positive impact on others who view my work, this was enough of a reason to give my work deeper meaning and purpose.
I became intrigued by the Mandala and the reasons behind its phenomena, the therapeutic benefits were apparent from the start. I practiced making a few which turned into 8 months of work. The repetitive nature and rotating patterns worked well to calm my mind, being able to switch off and relax and get totally absorbed in my work.
Whenever I feel like I need to unwind, then I go back to the Mandala. By creating that bit of ‘Me time’, drawing and painting often whilst listening to soothing music, I soon find myself feeling much happier, calmer and full of inspiration.
