I am an Artist, illustrator and photographer from North Yorkshire, England. I am forever inspired and in awe of the countryside around me and feel very fortunate to live in this beautiful part of the country. I regularly visit the Yorkshire Dales and Moors and find it enjoyable to walk up mountains. I think I love it so much because I can switch off by looking and listening to nature. I love the way the atmosphere changes and the way the shadows cast on and roll over the hills. It’s truly magical and makes me feel alive.
Katrina has been recognized locally for her contribution towards creativity in the community. She enjoys painting high detailed pet portraits, teaching in schools, community centres and village halls, she also built up a good business of face painting at parties and fairs. As well as drawing and painting, Katrina has a firm interest in photography, her nature photography is intended to help people open their own eyes to the beauty of the world around them, to help stop you in your track, beckoning you to look that little bit closer. Her fascination with nature is evident throughout her work which can be quite varied, Katrina described her thoughts on her work, ‘ Why should we have this idea that as artists we must create a style and stay with it for ever; our work is a reflection of us; we are forever changing, surely so must our art?’. She describes her best work as being when she’s lost in the moment, “The place where time stands still, there is no past and no future. Just you and the object you are using to create with, whether it’s your hand, crayon or paintbrush, the blank surface comes to life. A picture seemingly emerges from the soul; that is special”.
